How Long Does Tofu Cat Litter Last? Build a Realistic Use Budget

There is no single number of days that every bag of tofu cat litter will last. Tray dimensions, fill depth, cat numbers, top-ups and full replacements all affect use. A more useful budget starts with what your household actually pours and discards.

Check what the selected pack contains

Before comparing prices, check the weight, number of bags and purchase terms for the exact option selected. A product title, lifestyle image or old URL can describe a different pack from the current purchase option. Include delivery charges when comparing the amount you would really pay.

For Purrify, refer to the current Australian purchase options rather than assuming every pack shown on the site has the same size. Avoid treating a general supply estimate as a guarantee for your own cat.

Track a normal period of use

Choose a period that reflects your usual routine and includes ordinary top-ups. Record the date you open a bag, the amount used for the initial fill, later additions and any complete tray replacement. If part of a bag remains at the end, include that rather than counting every opened bag as fully used.

Keep your cleaning and fill routine appropriate for the cat and the product. Do not make the layer too shallow or delay replacement simply to improve the budget number. The point of the record is to price a workable routine.

Use a simple calculation

Weekly litter cost = litter used in kilograms per week × delivered price per kilogram.

For example, imagine a hypothetical household uses 2 kg a week and pays A$6 per kg delivered. Its litter cost would be A$12 a week. Multiplying the weekly figure by 52 and dividing by 12 gives an average of A$52 a month. These are illustrative numbers, not Purrify prices or a usage claim.

If you prefer not to weigh litter, record how many weeks a known quantity lasts in ordinary use, including any amount carried into the next period. A longer, honest record is better than an exact-looking estimate built from a few unusual days.

Compare the routine as well as the price

  • How much clean litter is discarded with broken clumps?
  • Does your scoop suit the product?
  • How often do you need a full replacement under the directions?
  • Is storage keeping the unused supply dry?
  • Are you budgeting for one tray or the whole household?

Our clumping checklist can help investigate avoidable waste, while the tofu-versus-clay comparison guide explains how to make a fair shortlist.

Review before buying a larger supply

Once you know your use, allow a sensible delivery buffer and check the current pack terms. For subscriptions, read the frequency, recurring price and cancellation information before selecting one. A larger pack is useful only if it suits your storage, cash flow and cat’s established preference.

For health-monitoring litter, colour observation remains a separate daily care step. It does not replace veterinary advice, and extending a bag’s life should never take priority over a clean, comfortable tray.
